Foreign names?

I have a friend who went to camp this summer and she sent me a letter about it. She said all the people in her cabin are mean and and "cool" (apparently to themselves I guess) and I guess when she was writing me the letter they asked who it was to so she told them my name. I have a sort of exotic name and she told me they said my name was stupid. I know I shouldn't care what other people think but it kind of hurt my feelings. They don't even know me. So yeah. What should I do?

And why do people always assume foreign names are ugly? Once I was on a chatboard because the title was "Rating Names" and I was curious about it. I didn't write anything but one girl wrote her name, I don't remember what the name was but it was like Russian or somthning and the girl who made the thread wrote "ewwww. 1/10" to her name. And then when another girl came in and wrote "Samantha" and she wrote "8/10 LOVE IT!" Why do people think foreign names are ugly?

I guess its because its just not what theyre used to hearing, and in another language that name could mean something beautiful =)
